It was hard for me to get into it. It wasn't really bad or anything from what I played, just wasn't blown away or anything either. I was excited to play a game by the makers of Stardew Valley, this game just wasn't what I expected and just don't really see myself getting back to it. It is pretty fun, and the controls and art are ok and reminicent of games of old which can be a good thing. So far it has an uninteresting story though and pretty boring quests and characters so I really don't find myself wanting to keep playing. I am leaning toward not recommended for that reason. I may come back to it with fresh eyes and change my mind down the road. If that happens I'll try to remember to edit this.. A fun metroidvania that takes you from many beautiful set pieces. The music is well made, the game is wonderfully well drawn, and I found myself just exploring aimlessly for awhile to see what treasures I could unlock. With some minor allusions to their publisher's previous works, it's not invasive and a fun nod. Shame this game didn't get the recognation it deserved but I enjoyed what time I did put into it.The only issue I have is that the high jump is its own button, not an "upgrade". While I understand why, it goes against a lot of previous metroidvania-style platformer's logic, but that's a minor knitpick I suppose.. Still a bit too buggy. I've done the Win 10 gaming mode as suggested and the game still crashes before I can accomplish anything, usually when loading new areas. Hopefully the dev will iron all that out. The original game was f'ing great so I have high hopes for this remake. It just needs a bit more polish. Might want to wait a few weeks before purchasing.Edit: The crashing seems to be isolated to very beginning of the game. If you work through that part, things seems to clear up.. After playing/testing TAW extensively, I have come to the conclusion that it is the best gaming experience I've had in a long time. It was a huge improvement on a game that was already great. It has all the charm of the orginal TAG, and then some. The adventure aspect is very satisfying, the art style is excellently polished, the story is exciting and touching, and the music acts as a perfect support for all these qualities.I tip my paper adventure hat to the developers.. Great game. I fell in love with its predecessor, Treasure Adventure Game, and Treasure Adventure World, so far, is a fantastic experience of the same core gameplay elements. I love the exploration aspect, the music, and the atmosphere. The game is fun, and it's hard not to pull yourself away without exploring what's on the next island.***Update***Okay.. I know I've played Treasure Adventure Game before, but as I've continued to play Treasure Adventure World, it's coming back to me why I love this game. It's the adventure! I don't know how else to describe it, but there's moments where you are exploring an island, and you run up against a puzzle you're not sure you're capable of passing, and then, you just think, whatever! and you just set sail. Those beautiful ocean waves carry you to the next island, to where you'll find something completely different! Perhaps you'll find some surly cactus, or perhaps you'll find a a city with people wishing for something more. Maybe you'll find a hammock to hang in, and then you come out at night, with GREAT music that becomes familiar, and makes you excited to explore more. Although you are linearly led simply because, like many metrodvania-like games, you can only do so much in an area without coming back, but, this game does a tremendous job not making this contrived, and you genuinely look forward to exploring the same areas again when you have a cool magic bottle, a shovel, or maybe just a top hat. Highly recommended if you like adventure.
