The woman told firefighters on the scene that she had been trapped inside since about 10 p.m. Saturday and all she could think about was getting her kids out, firefighters said. She said her 2-year-old son got out and called to her to get out as well, but was frightened by the intense flames and broke through a front window, according to firefighters. He escaped, but the woman couldn't, despite trying to get through the window, they said. The woman's children, ages 1, 3 and 4, were unable to get out because the window wasn't large enough, firefighters said. They crawled through a window and climbed out. All of the children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, fire officials said. One firefighter suffered minor injuries after falling from the roof of a second-story apartment above the home, fire officials said. By 1:30 a.m., all of the fire was out and the building was evacuated. The fire was the latest in a string of house fires that erupted across the Chicago area in recent weeks.Ctenophorus adustus Ctenophorus adustus, commonly known as the ash-grey, is a species of bird in the Furnariidae family.
